I've started making a list of things to bring to the hospital, postpartum, that kind of stuff. I'm just getting really freaked out to because I've only had one baby shower and the rest are all end of June, early July! What if the baby comes early?!?!?! My friends Jim and Amanda had their baby 10 weeks early on Tuesday. She was due like 3 days after me. But she had severe preeclampsia and had to have an emergency c-section. Please pray for them!!!! Like I said, I just feel so unprepared. AND it's hard to do anything anyways because Coleman and I are in limbo about our job/living situation. What if I get a job in Lexington and we have to move? No point in putting up a crib here and then having to move it in 4 weeks!
Oh well. It'll all be ok. I thought I had a Braxton-Hicks contraction last night. I don't know though. I've never had a contraction before so I don't know what they feel like. We did however have a doctor's appt yesterday complete with ultrasound! Dr. Taylor thought I was a bit bigger than what I should be and she wanted to check his growth and size. Lemme just tell you his weight. He is 3 lbs, 13 oz!!!!!! So ok, 4 lbs. That's a lot of weight on your bladder. Coleman said something about how it wasn't very much right now and I said, "You're not the one who has to push 4+ lbs out your hoo-ha!" Men. I forgot to ask how long he was! But they said everything was normal and that he is beautiful! Also, he has a head full of hair. You could actually see it on the ultrasound! It was so cool. I bet it's dark like his mama's. I had like Don King hair when I was born. Coleman had some but it was real blonde I think. Teddy looked so sweet too. His hands were grabbing his feet. He looked so squished in there! Here are some pics:
That's looking at his foot from the side.
There's his fingers. I think his thumb was wrapped around his foot so you can't see it very well.
She measured him and it all averaged to around 31 weeks. So right on schedule! Although, TECHNICALLY with my due date, I should be 30 weeks. But I think I'm 31. I ain't making it to August 4. With the new averages, my due date should be like July 28. So we're just gonna go with that. Here's my beef with the whole thing. When we FIRST found out we were pregnant, the first ultrasound I had said I was 6 weeks and 4 days. Ok great. Then like a week and a half later, THAT ultrasound said I was like 6 weeks and 5 days. Um, excuse me what? I'm not a math teacher but I think I should've been at 8 weeks at that point? So whatever. We'll just say July 28 and call it a day. And on Saturday I should be 32 weeks.
In other pregnancy news, our Memorial Day weekend got ruined because last week I got diagnosed with SCABIES. What the crap. It is the WORST thing ever. Worse than my eczema. Coleman had to be treated, I had to be treated. It's been crazy. On Saturday, we were outside all day and I think the heat really aggravated it and Saturday night I woke up in the middle of the night all broke out in hives on my hands and arms and itching really badly. I started freaking out. We called the dermatologist, called the OB. They told me to take some Benadryl but nothing in Morgantown was open and had Benadryl so it was just plain awful. I didn't get any sleep. We were supposed to go to Lexington on Sunday for my best friend's wedding and we had to miss it. I feel horrible about not being there!!!! She looked so pretty tho :(
So that's what I'm doing today. We had to do another treatment last night and I'm literally waiting on at least the 4th load of laundry right now. You have to wash EVERYTHING when you get scabies. And I still have like 2 more loads of laundry to do. Our water bill is going to be expensive this month!!!!!
That's all for now, pray for my friends Jim and Amanda and their newborn baby Sarah!!!!!!
Braxton Hicks contractions make your whole belly get hard as a rock. No one told me what contractions felt like either, so I'm telling you. I had them for a few weeks, but never dilated or anything.
ReplyDeleteKnow things about giving birth and postpartum, but also know that every pregnancy, labor, baby IS different. Things probably won't go as you plan, so BE MENTALLY FLEXIBLE. That's my biggest advice and it pertains to labor, delivery, postpartum and definitely the first few weeks of mommy-hood. Go with the flow. :)

I'm no expert by any means, but I hope to impart just a bit of "wisdom" because I've been where you are.
We're praying for you and baby Teddy! He will be an absolute blessing!
Thank ya ma'am! My stomach got super hard and it felt like I was going to throw up. But then it never happened again after I chilled from freaking out for a hot second and got some water. So I don't know?
