Color Run in Louisville with Heather, Annie and I
Coleman is still working at Enterprise. In February it'll be 2 years. We celebrated our first anniversary back in May. I can't believe we've been married for a year and a half already! We said we were going to go to Gatlinburg, but we ended up just going to Cincinnati for a nice dinner at Buca di Beppo and going to the casino. It was raining all weekend in Gatlinburg. BUT over Fall Break, we decided to take a nice little honeymoon to Myrtle Beach. It was a little on the chilly side. But still nice weather. We went jet skiing, went to the beach and the heated pools. It was really fun!
My first time ever!
We went out in the Intercoastal Waterway and out in the ocean and saw dolphins! It was a blast. Teddy didn't come with us. We definitely were excited to see that boy, but we had fun just the two of us. It was nice to get a honeymoon!
Teddy of course has had the most changes. He started walking on his own on June 10, 2 days after he turned 10 months. He switched over from a bottle to a sippy cup with the greatest of ease and started eating people food all the time around then. Here are a few highlights from the summer:
Being silly at Home Depot
Highlights from his first haircut. He's had 2 more since then!
His "I'm too cute for my own good" look
Our first 4th of July
The day before Mommy's LASIK surgery. Hooray for no more glasses!
Tupelo MS
Teddy did go on his first road trip with my mom, aunt and me. We went to Tupelo MS and Memphis TN for my mom's work. Unfortunately, Teddy fell very ill and we had to take him to the ER. He ended up having Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease. It was very scary because it was the hottest day of the summer and he wouldn't eat or drink anything. He cried the whole way back from Memphis too. It was awful. So needless to say, his first road trip wasn't very fun.
His first birthday has come and gone. We had a great party at the FOP in Lexington for all the family. His party was Spot themed, his favorite book. He got lots of great toys and clothes and we are very thankful for everything he received. We actually got so many diapers we didn't have to buy any until about 2 weeks ago!

This was his smash cake
The cake for everyone else
When it came time for his smash cake, boy, he was not having ANY of that. He gets really shy around lots of people, especially big crowds and people he is unfamiliar with. But Coleman put him in his lap and he went to town. He LOVED the icing, the cake, not so much.
After the damage.
Our other major life change happened over the summer as well. As you know from previous blog posts, we had started building a house in Versailles. Well, while I was in Memphis (Coleman didn't go) we found out from our loan officer that we would not be able to get our Rural Housing loan because we were over the income limit. Our monthly payments with a rural housing loan would have been like $1177. When we got back from Memphis, Coleman and I poured over our finances, checked every nook and cranny for things we could claim. We went ahead and did the final walk-through with Ball. The house was totally ready. But our loan officer called the next day and said there was nothing else to be done, we were over the limit by $300 and that was that. So she gave us our options and a loan would have been like $1376 in monthly payments. We definitely could NOT afford that. So it totally broke my heart, but in the back of my mind I knew Versailles was not where we were supposed to be. So Coleman and I discussed renting our townhouse for another year, buying somewhere else, but where? So we looked in Versailles and Franklin County with my parents old realtor Mary Anne Simmons. We didn't really fall in love with any houses so it looked more and more like renting. One day, keep in mind this is the very end of July now, I said let's look in Scott Co, I found some cute houses in our price range out there. We walked into our home now, ranch on a basement, and LOVED it. It was affordable, NOTHING needed to be done except get all of the sellers stuff out and move in. The neighborhood is even called Payne's Crossing. How wild is that? It just all felt like kismet. We actually both liked this house better than the one we built. It is deceivingly large. And we absolutely fell in love with the idea of the finished basement. Four bedrooms, 2 baths with a rough-in for a 3rd downstairs. They took such good care of this house. I said let's make an offer TODAY so we can move soon before school starts. They accepted our offer and while we weren't able to move the weekend before school started (that's when they were moving out), we couldn't close the next week either because that's when Teddy's birthday party was, so it was the next weekend. It is so weird to be in our own house, but we absolutely love it and we love Georgetown! Everyone thought the distance between my work and our house was a lot further than where we were building, but it's actually shorter. Plus now, I carpool with someone from work so that cuts down on gas a lot.
Homeowners!
My 27th birthday came and went, which is fine. 27 is not exactly a big milestone, but it does make me feel old. Teddy had his 15 mo doctor's appt last week and he weighs 22.3 lbs, 31 1/8 in tall, all in the 50th %ile. He is such a big boy. He grows smarter every single day. He picks up new things all the time. He has started to say some words, but not with any consistency. He says mama and daddy, of course, but he can also say tractor, diaper, and some others. He knows what a lot of stuff is and takes commands very well. My carpool buddy said that I shouldn't wish for that kink in the hose to undo itself, then he'll never shut up! Haha. I'm excited for the holidays and to see how he reacts to the tree and Santa. I think I've written WAY too much for right now. I'm home today with a sick boy. Although with him playing around, I don't know how "sick" he really feels. I'll leave you with some of my favorite pics from the fall so far... I promise to blog again soon!
At mommy's school's football game. Go Rockets! Reppin' that navy and gold!
He LOVES this cozy coupe. Probably his second favorite bday present, aside from his bat and ball
