I need to post more often. So much has happened in the past 3 weeks! Last blog I posted about my grandfather passing away. We went to his funeral (Teddy stayed with my other grandfather as everyone had the flu). We'll definitely miss all his crazy antics and sayings, that's for sure. That's one thing about growing up. The bad comes with the good.
Christmas break was awesome. Teddy's first Christmas was a blast. We had to travel a lot though! Trust me anyone who is pregnant, make everyone come to YOU. It gets harder and harder traveling with a baby! The Phelps side celebrated at my parents house. Then we spent Christmas Eve with Coleman's mom's family, Christmas day with his dad and that Saturday with my mom's side.
Our first family Christmas photo :)
Teddy got lots of good stuff. Just little things he needs such as a play gym, a high chair, some books, and things like that. He wasn't too interested in opening presents:
He can grab things really well now. But he didn't really know what to think about presents and things. Here is playing with some of his new toys:
His jumparoo. He LOVES it. He would spend hours in it if he could. This was the first time playing in it. He would notice the rhino, turn away, see it again and it was like he saw it for the first time!
His play gym mom and dad got him. Also his first time in it. He can really grab the things now. There's a piano for him to kick too which he likes.
Don't let that adorable smile fool you!
Although all of break, he was so fussy! His teeth were bothering him so bad. I felt like such a bad mom because I lost my cool once or twice. I'm usually the more patient one, but that screaming business gets old! I just had to lay him in his crib and let him cry while I cried in our bedroom.
Although he MIGHT be smiling because he got the hang of sleeping 12 hours super fast! When I posted last he had woken up twice Sunday night, once Monday night, and now he's sleeping through the night! He went through a phase where he was waking up at 6, but we leave him in there and come in his room at 7. I know this seems harsh, but neither Coleman nor I would be able to get anything done in the mornings if he woke up at 6 and now he's sleep-trained to wake up at 7. Much better!!!!! I wish we had listened to the doctor (and Coleman!) at 3 months old. Think of all those nights of sleep we could've gotten! Oh well...
Other big milestones are Teddy is able to sit up on his own! He still wobbles a little bit and bends over more than straightens his back out, but we'll get there. He's so smart!!!!!
I also posted on Facebook about how Teddy has found his voice. He has this little pitiful cough, probably because he just likes to hear himself! Here's a video (I couldn't post it to Facebook for whatever reason). I was watching the first season of Downton Abbey and Theodore was jabbering away at the TV:
I swear he is going to be like me. Starts talking and never shuts up! That's ok. He's the sweetest :)
Theodore will be 5 months old in 2 days. Crazy! I went through a hard reality check over break and gave away a BUNCH of my clothes that don't fit anymore. I said to myself, "Maggie, it's been 5 months. They're not going to fit anymore!" I also made a goal to start doing Insanity. Coleman's going to do it with me. I've heard that it's really hard but really worth it. If I can just lose 20lbs, I'd be happy. I've been stuck at 140 since about a month after Teddy was born. So I guess that's our resolution. I also will try to update the blog more. I should've done more over break, but with Papaw, traveling, and Teddy being so fussy, I just didn't have time.
I will post again soon!!!! Hope everyone had a happy holidays :)
